The Kaunas State Academic Drama Theatre had its premier December 19, 1920. In this theatre worked famous theatre “sąjūdis” (movement for freedom) members, active until the rebirth of Lithuania’s Independence.
The Kaunas State Musical Theatre was established in 1940, earlier referred to as the Operetta Theatre. It had its premiere in 1941. Even during World War II the theatre put on several classical operettas.
