
Let's Observe the Birds

Autumn – a good time to observe the birds. Lithuanian West is just a peculiar transit stop for the migrating birds.
During active autumn migration, many rare species of birds rally here... A special geographical position for ideal observation of the migrating birds is the Curonian Spit and Ventės cape (Šilutė district). The major bird migration road goes through Ventės cape. Sometimes 100-200 thousands of birds fly through in one day.
In Klaipėda region, birds can be observed on the territory of Seaside regional park – Šaipiai has the observation tower. In autumn, you can see swans the singers, stripe-headed teals, brown-headed teals, peepers, garrots, and cristate ducks there. A bird observation house is standing in the park, beside the Lake Plocis. Here the crowds of mergansers, white-haired, brown-headed, pintails, shovellers, grey, cristate ducks, peepers, garrots, teals can be met.
Notably rare birds can be seen in the Curonian Spit – Hawk the traveler, red feet hawk, brown kite or pink starling.
