Public Transport
The cheapest way to travel in Klaipėda is to take a regular bus. Regardless of whether you go one or ten bus stops, the trip will cost 1 Litas. Tickets can be purchased at press kiosks. If you get on a bus without a ticket, you can buy one from the driver. In this case it will cost somewhat more – 1,20 Litas.
Would you like to travel faster? Take a minibus then. The trip will cost twice as much – 1.70 Litas, and 2 Litas after 11 pm, yet it will be a lot faster and more comfortable. The minibuses have almost the same routes as regular buses, and go every 10-20 minutes (see the Transport Scheme). The minibuses can be stopped anywhere. When you want to get off, ask the driver to stop.

Taxi
We advice you to call a taxi by phone rather than to try “catching” one on the street. This way it will be a lot cheaper. When you get into a taxi, do not forget to ask about the price for a kilometre. Otherwise the taxi driver might ask you to pay more than you should. Prices for a kilometre in Klaipėda vary from 1.50 to 2 Litas. Some taxi companies also charge 2 Litas for getting in. If you want to take a taxi and go outside the city, the price can be agreed upon.

Ferry
You can go from Klaipėda to the Curonian Spit by ferry that crosses the lagoon. There are two ferries in Klaipėda. The first is in the Old Town, in the mouth of the Danė River. Only small ferries are available here. In the summer when there are a lot of passengers going to the Smiltynė beaches, vehicles are not accepted. If you do not intend to go to Neringa by car, we advise you to leave it on the “land.” From Smiltynė (First Ferry) to Nida you can travel by bus or minibus.
Somewhat further, going by Pilies and Minijos Streets and near the lagoon there is the Second Ferry which has larger ferries. They accept all motor vehicles (30 to 32 at a time) as well as passengers. On cold and windy days the passengers can stay at a passenger hall.
When crossing the lagoon, a passenger will pay 2 Litas, a car driver 40 Litas.
